 Men’s sports coats are typically less fitted and slightly less formal than men’s blazers. And usually they come in a greater variety of patterns and colors.

Also, because a sports coat tends to be “roomier” than a blazer, you can wear it over a sweater in cooler weather. Because it’s more casual, you can wear it confidently with denim pants.
